TUMWATER — A balanced win total, along with depth at key events, allowed Aberdeen’s girls to sweep Wednesday’s Evergreen 2A track & field meet with Elma and Black Hills at Tumwater Stadium.

TUMWATER — Jacob Snyder’s walk-off solo home run for Black Hills not only turned pitcher Max Dickinson into a tough-luck loser, but put Hoquiam’s playoff chances in jeopardy on Wednesday.

The Hoquiam School Board authorized layoff notices to the equivalent of 10.6 teachers Wednesday night in its first crack at dealing with a higher-than-expected $1.3 million revenue shortfall to its current $20 million operating budget.
